We live in an imperfect world, or maybe a world so highly complex that it seems imperfect. We continue to come up with ever more intense ways of describing it in hopes it will all one day reveal itself in all it's complexity to have been really quite simple, but we're no wiser than Ptolemy. We have our "wanderers" , our assumptions, and our circles upon circles, upon circles...
When I was first starting out an older and wiser carpenter said to me, "You'll always make mistakes, what makes a good remodelor is knowing how to hide them." I laughed at the time, but I've come to realize that in many ways those were the truest words I've ever heard spoken about this trade. There will always be a problem, what defines you is how you deal with it.
Every job brings it's unique set of characteristics to bear, and part of the joy I find in this work is the creative challenge of problem solving.
That and the power tools. I love the power tools.
